About the 2018 Hotel Career Expo
The Hotel Career Expo is your opportunity to go behind the scenes of this amazing industry and kickstart your new career with great rewards, internationally renowned training and strong management pathways. The Hotel Career Expo will be held on Monday 7th May 2018 at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth and will feature:

- The “Hostplus Seminar Zone” – with fascinating seminars running all day on topics including Breaking into your Career and Interviewing for Success
- Representatives from our 22 participating hotel groups so you can talk about starting your new career

The 10 most creative submissions will win. Winners will be able to select from 2018 course dates avaiable in TAFE NSW Hospitality coffee training facilities at participating Sydney campuses.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE HOTEL CAREER EXPO?
It’s more than just a careers day! The Hotel Career Expo itself is a one-day event with exhibits that allow you to explore all the professional careers that interest you. Be inspired by possible career paths from entry level to senior management, talk with staff already making their way in the industry, watch amazing demonstrations, participate in games and competitions, win prizes and more. There will also be a full day of Seminar Sessions in the Hostplus Seminar Zone, with panel discussions, inspiring speakers and information sessions about a variety of topics.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Anyone who is interested in a career in hotels. We invite high school students, university students, existing hotel staff and anyone who is looking for a career change to come and see the world that awaits in hotels. Parents/carers are very welcome to accompany students. Teachers and Career Advisors are also welcome, on their own or with their student groups.

Then you’re already registered for the Hotel Career Expo! All you’ll need to do is login to your account to select your arrival time and the seminars you’d like to attend. A separate email has been sent to remind you of your login details.
WHY DO I HAVE TO PICK AN ARRIVAL TIMESLOT?
To ensure you get the most out of your time at the Hotel Career Expo, including spending quality time receiving advice and guidance from our amazing staff, we ask all registrants to nominate an arrival time slot. Once you arrive at the Expo, you can spend as much time exploring as you like.
I’M A TEACHER / CAREER ADVISOR BRINGING A SCHOOL GROUP. HOW DO I REGISTER?
School groups are very welcome and will need to be registered by the attending teacher. Students who are coming as part of your group do not have to register their details separately. During the registration process, you will be asked for the approximate number of people in your group including yourself, any other teachers, and students. Actual numbers will need to be confirmed in April. This Expo is very popular, we recommend you register as soon as possible to secure your preferred timeslot and seminar session/s.

ABOUT THE 2016 HOTEL CAREER EXPO
The inaugural Hotel Career Expo was held in Sydney in May 2016, and over 1,000 ambitious and talented young job seekers were inspired to attend and take the first step in pursuing a rewarding professional career in the hotel industry. Attendees were able to meet potential future employers and gain advice about how to climb the hotel career ladder, not just from managers but also from young and successful individuals, currently working in the industry.
Major hotel names including Accor, Shangri-La and Marriott put their normally competitive streaks aside, to join together to shine a light on the many and diverse professional careers available – from events and marketing, to engineering and finance in the hotel industry.

The Hostplus Education Zone featured seminars covering a range of topics designed to answer questions about the hotel industry and six Career Booths gave attendees the opportunity to access relevant information and an opportunity to speak to decision makers in relation to specific career paths.
We also gave away stays in luxury hotels including QT Sydney, Park Hyatt, InterContinental, Four Seasons, Meriton Serviced Apartments, Hilton Sydney and Crown Metropol Melbourne to seven lucky winners in “Explore, Collect & Win”.
And all eligible Expo attendees were invited to apply for one of three scholarships valued at over $10,000, offered by Sydney TAFE, with the winners given the opportunity to complete the acclaimed Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50416).
In 2017/18 we will be building on the solid foundations set during the 2016 campaign to continue to change perceptions of the hotel industry as an aspirational career choice and engage the professional superstars who will contribute to the future growth of the industry.
