The Hotel Career Expo will be held on Monday 7th May 2018.

At the Expo, major accommodation brands will exhibit, and be on hand to discuss available career paths and opportunities including cadetships/internships, work experience programs, site visits and more.

A seminar program will also run during the Expo to educate students on career opportunities and how they can engage with the industry to find their dream role.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE HOTEL CAREER EXPO?

It’s more than just a careers day! The Hotel Career Expo itself is a one-day event with over 20 exhibitors from a variety of hotels and groups, with staff on hand to share their inside knowledge, talk to visitors about their career aspirations and the opportunities that exist so you can get your start. There will also be a full day of Seminar Sessions, with panel discussions, inspiring speakers and information sessions about a variety of topics.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Anyone who is interested in a career in hotels. We invite high school students, university students, existing hotel staff and anyone who is looking for a career change to come and see the world that awaits in hotels.

WHAT IS THE COST?

Entry is free but you must register to attend.

Registration will open in January 2018.

2018 HOTEL CAREER EXPO LAUNCH

The 2018 Hotel Career Expo has officially launched – hooray!

It was a full house at the official launch with Minister for Tourism and Major Events, and Assistant Minister for Skills, Adam Marshall doing the honours, joined by representatives of Sydney’s top accommodation hotels.

With the event to take place on 7 May 2018 – this is the ultimate gateway for students, graduates and young professionals to the finest career opportunities available in Australia’s leading hotel brands.

ABOUT THE 2016 HOTEL CAREER EXPO

The inaugural Hotel Career Expo was held in Sydney in May 2016, and over 1,000 ambitious and talented young job seekers were inspired to attend and take the first step in pursuing a rewarding professional career in the hotel industry. Attendees were able to meet potential future employers and gain advice about how to climb the hotel career ladder, not just from managers but also from young and successful individuals, currently working in the industry.

Major hotel names including Accor, Shangri-La and Marriott put their normally competitive streaks aside, to join together to shine a light on the many and diverse professional careers available – from events and marketing, to engineering and finance in the hotel industry.

The Hostplus Education Zone featured seminars covering a range of topics designed to answer questions about the hotel industry and six Career Booths gave attendees the opportunity to access relevant information and an opportunity to speak to decision makers in relation to specific career paths.

We also gave away stays in luxury hotels including QT Sydney, Park Hyatt, InterContinental, Four Seasons, Meriton Serviced Apartments, Hilton Sydney and Crown Metropol Melbourne to seven lucky winners in “Explore, Collect & Win”.

And all eligible Expo attendees were  invited to apply for one of three scholarships valued at over $10,000, offered by Sydney TAFE, with the winners given the opportunity to complete the acclaimed Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50416).

In 2017/18 we will be building on the solid foundations set during the 2016 campaign to continue to change perceptions of the hotel industry as an aspirational career choice and engage the professional superstars who will contribute to the future growth of the industry.
